With Christmas and new year fast approaching, it is a busy and important time of year of the licensed trade. Make sure you get your TENs in on time.
It may be that you will want to open later during the festive and new year period to maximise on the opportunities. Unless your premises licence makes provision for later licensing during this period, you will need to rely on temporary events notices (TEN) to allow you to open later.
However, TENs have very strict limits that are prescribed in law including the minimum notice period that must be given to the police and licensing authority. If you submit TENs outside this period, your TEN will be rejected.
Here are the TENs deadlines for the 2019 Christmas and New Year period:
|Last date to submit standard TEN||Last date to submit late TEN|
|Christmas Eve||9 December||16 December|
|Christmas Day||10 December||17 December|
|Boxing Day||10 December||17 December|
|New Year’s Eve||12 December||19 December|
|New Year’s Day||13 December||20 December|
